City On A Hill

Neighborhood Groups
Our people need to live in “context” of the gospel and not only hear the “concept” of the gospel.

Our hope at City on a Hill is that our people not only come and hear the “concept” of the gospel on Sunday, but also in turn go and live the “context” of the Bible.

We truly desire that they become “family” with a smaller amount of people (8-10 people) they interact with on a weekly basis where they can grow together as they help each other in fostering a deeper commitment to be in the Word and prayer daily, to actually apply the teaching they hear from Dave on Sunday, and to love and serve people missionally. We do this by understanding and engaging the culture around us and servings the needs of the people around us. We don't only do things, but we share the reason for the hope we have and the reason why we do the things we do, Jesus Christ.

The hope is they understand how “counter-cultural” and hard this is, but that they are willing to elevate the importance of meeting together, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead them as they live in the context of the gospel.

So when new people are looking to do more or get plugged into City on a Hill our first response to them is
“join a neighborhood.” Any neighborhood, as they are all similar, so for the people they probably only have to decide about location or meeting time. Also, neighborhoods can easily form from the natural groupings of people that organically form.
