I haven't written in a bit for various reason, but I'm starting again today, and my hope is that it is a blessing to any who read. Some one of the reasons I haven't written lately is that our church offices were broken into recently, and one of the things they stole was my Mac PowerBook.
Obviously, God is sovereign and there are various reasons that the break-in happen including sin. But, if the following verse is true...
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Then God is working this in my life for good. One of the places I totally see it, was my dependence on the computer. I believe it became an idol in my life, and I depended on it as much as God. Let me explain, I do so much on my computer that at times I find my worth from what I do with it, and I tend to depend less of God and my love and obedience to Him. I always want to be excellent in anything I do, but I should never think that what is happening at City on a Hill is because of me and my computer.
After the computer was taken I've felt tinges of something missing in me (like withdrawals). I'm glad that is happening and I never want to put that much stock in any material from now on. So, I've forgiven the thieves and as for forgiveness for my pride and my idol.
The other reason for not writing in a bit was that I wanted to change how I write my entries. Before I would write in a more descriptive way form what I read, but now I want to write in way where I share the gospel more and how it's affect my life and the body life at City on a Hill. I've been praying about it a lot, so let see how it plays out in the coming months...
Nehemiah 2-3
Psalm 34
Mark 13
