I've been re-reading 1 Timothy the passage at the end of three is so encouraging.

11Command and teach these things.12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Like Timothy all of us have a gift and we should not neglect it for it is to progress so that all may see. So it seems that regardless of the gift we have, the gift itself is meant for others to see and in that way each of us is "teaching" the gospel. What is your gift? The way it progresses is by keeping a close watch on yourself and on what you are teaching others, this ends and begins with reading the word. The promise is that if we persist we will save both ourselves and our hearers. Don't know about you, but if your reading frequently you're probably progressing which is a source of great hope as persistent is the evidence of the mercy and grace of Christ continuing in our life.
